The SSDSA supports approximately 1100 players in our summer program and 400 for our winter program.  We have an experienced and passionate Board supporting the growth and development of soccer on the South Shore.

SSDSA is looking for two leaders who are passionate about soccer and their local communities to fill our President and Vice President positions on our Board. An ideal candidate understands the game of soccer, has passion for youth in sport, and recognizes the importance of soccer in rural Nova Scotia. We are looking for you to work with our experienced Board members to grow our sport on the South Shore.  This is an exciting time to join our Board.  We are looking for new ideas to increase participation in our local programs.

These positions are outlined below:

President: Two year term even numbered years

·         Ensure that the District is managed in accordance with its bylaws, policies, mission statement and guiding principles

·         Ensures that all decisions and/or directives of the Board are implemented in a timely manner

·         Ensure that the operations are managed in a timely and efficient manner

·         Ensure that all positions are required to run the District are staffed

·         Responsible for managing paid staff

·         Appoint committees as required to carry out the business of the District

·         Work with the Board to develop a strategic roadmap for the District

·         Preside at all meetings of the District and establish the agenda for all District meetings

·         Present an annual report of the state of the District at the Annual General Meeting

·         Act as the spokesperson for the District

·         Have a signing authority in addition to the Treasurer for the District

Vice President: Two year term odd numbered years

·         Serves as a buck up to the President in situation when conflicts of interest arise or President is temporarily unavailable

·         Chair Strategic Planning Committee

·         Report to the Board on strategic plan

·         Have a signing authority in addition to the President and Treasurer for the District
